How We Have Helped The Community...

Since April 2008, we have given away more than £5,000 to local causes, all worthy for different reasons. Our first donation under Rob Millar’s Chairmanship was £250 to Dunmow Netball Club in April and since then we have gone from strength to strength.

We gave Kay Puddock, a Dunmow resident, £580 to help run an Oscars night for a national charity where she raised a huge amount of money herself, we donated £200 so that Dunmow St Mary’s Primary School could start their own blooming vegetable and flower patch, £250 has been given to Stebbing Hall so that they can repair the porch above the entrance of the meeting house and in September we gave away £1,000 to three local community projects (£250 for new kit for Dunmow Triathlon Club, £500 towards a new floor at Dunmow Tennis Club and £250 was given to the ‘Wednesday Painters’ to help pay their rent for over a year).

In September, we donated £572 to Foakes Hall for a new light pack. Foakes Hall is used by many local groups including ourselves in February at our very own concert night. The light pack is required to operate the stage lights and the new pack will help many concerts continue as planned. We also gave £300 to Jessica Sturgeon who needed this money to complete her £6,000 fundraising mission which enabled her to visit Equador on a working charity trip.

Most recently, we have just given away £250 to Grey Matters which is going towards their Christmas Fish ‘n’ Chips supper after their day out and £1,700 to Jessie Myers. Jessie is desperately in need of a vehicle suitable of carrying a wheelchair inside. The vehicle will ensure Jessie’s mother will not struggle to transfer her daughter during her daily routine to and from school and during the weekends. The vehicle part-funded by Motability will be given to the Myers’ family in February.

We would love to give away more donations like these so if you are in need of a donation please contact, Neil Bird, Chairman of Great Dunmow Round Table on neil.bird@sky.com or click on the link opposite for a donation request form and send to donations@greatdunmowroundtable.co.uk.
